Yesterday I picked up a Coronado SolarMax II 60 HA Telescope on Marketplace for a price I couldn't resist.
I need to get a part or three to be able to mount it on the grab and go mount I've had tucked away for a while, and it's just too hot to set up the G11 mount and C11 scope just to run this small telescope on top of it.
Almost gave up on having a look through it today when I remembered that I have a heavy duty photo tripod that I used to use with my binoculars. Threaded the shoe from the tripod onto the telescope, and as they say, "Bob's your uncle"... got some quick views in before the heat drove me back inside.

The solar eclipse of April 8, 2024, also known as the Great North American Eclipse, was a total solar eclipse visible across a band covering parts of North America, from Mexico to Canada and crossing the contiguous United States.  Here at the house we were not in the path of totality, but it was expected to still be a remarkable event.

I wasn't really holding out much hope for photography here at the hacienda, but I was really ready for a good look visually if the clouds had cooperated.

Unfortunately, they didn't.  We were totally clouded out for the entire event.  At least I got the gumption to set up.
